LET’S PARTY!

Are you planning for a party? Have you ever thought about an eco-friendly party? This article will give you some excellent tips to organize an eco-friendly party.

Invitations! The first thing appears in the list. There are various ways to make eco-friendly invitations without using any non-biodegradable objects. Always try to go with natural or eco-friendly materials to make your invitations. Currently, invitations can be listed under the zero-waste list with the use of digital invitations. But if you still need a printed invitation make sure to use just papers and biodegradable materials for the design and also use recycled papers if possible. Now there is a trend of preparing invitations which can be planted by the receiver. That is also a good initial step.

Party decorations! The most important part when picture a party and also the section which uses more and more polythene and plastic. Usually we are using single-use party decors generating a lot of waste at the end of the day. Yes! We need balloons, confetti, streamers to make our party more festive, but cannot we think of any new and creative alternatives? Why don’t we use natural items such as plants, leaves and flowers for decorations? It saves your money and will look more pleasant also. There are plenty of nice wildflowers that can be easily found around you, just make use of them. If you need confetti, cut some dried leaves or papers in different colours into different shapes instead of polythene. It is not impossible to do all the decors with papers, but need to think different, definitely it will look fantastic.

Food and beverages! Probably the major role of the party which generates waste most. Always try to avoid the use of paper plates and single-use paper cups or plastic cups, since it creates a lot of waste. Surely, there are plates and cups wasted more than the invitees at the end of every party. Also use non-plastic straws and spoons if possible. Place a water filter or a tap instead of giving single-use water bottles for everyone. When you plan the menu try a zero-waste menu with less packed food items and so on.

Games! Something makes your party enjoyable. Surely, you will need many more items to play games at the party. Keep the games simple and try to avoid the generation of waste during the game. Use a minimum of items or make reuse of the items in the game. Just think out of the box a little bit.
Giveaways! When it comes to giveaways, now it has become a trend to gift plants as giveaways, which is again a good initiative. Always try on something useful and eco-friendly gifts or recycled products as giveaways.
Buy or hire? It is not necessary to buy everything for the party. If you badly need any polythene plastic-based objects for the function just hire them instead of buying. At least it will minimize waste load while saving extra money. Not only for plastic objects, whatever you need for the party, look whether they are available to hire. It is better rather than buying unnecessary things that are not useful for you after the party.

Manage wastes! Keep separate trash baskets in a proper place. Guide the guests to remove waste properly using creative signs. Then the waste problem will not be a big deal at the end.

First, you need to identify your responsibility as a citizen to protect our environment. Then think about what you can do for it. Probably you may not need to do anything new, just make some changes in your daily routine or other works. So let’s make some changes to make our party more environmental friendly next time!
