There cannot be a single soul on earth who has not heard the name of Messi. Regardless of all the barriers of nationalities, races, team-wise divisions, and all, soccer fans all over the world love Messi. He once said, “I am successful because I made sacrifices for success.” The path Messi came up to the place where he is now, inspired the whole world and those are the roots of unconditional fan love towards him.
Lionel Andres Messi was born on June 24th of 1987 in Rosario, Argentina. Unfortunately, Messi had growth hormone deficiency since his childhood and due to that, he was a bit behind the other kids in growth. You might be wondering for a while why Messi is short and small while the rest of other South American soccer players are physically strong. Now you know the reason and his small stature and modest height earned him the nickname of “ flea” later became “atomic flea” because of his huge talent.
The roots of Messi’s football go to his childhood where he started playing in an Argentina Club. Nevell”s Old Boys is where Messi started his youth soccer career. Messi is the one who was awarded as the best player in every tournament he participated in. Messi’s 48 assists for Argentina are the most assists recorded in the history of international football. He is the player who has won the most Man Of The Match awards in a single World Cup Tournament. And the only player in history who scored against every South American team he faced. Messi is also the youngest Argentinian player ever to score a World cup goal which he was able to get in 2006 at a very young age of 18 is only seconds across the board to the well-known legend Pele. He holds the crown of the fastest Hattrick in the history of Copa America where he came as a substitute and did it after 19 minutes in 2016.
Moreover, he is the only one who achieved the playmaker and golden boot awards both at the same time. His epic talent made him the only one who exceeded 300 assists and first 1000+ goal and assists exceeder. And he holds the Guinness world record of taking the maximum number of goals in a year which is 91. And Messi is the only Football player to hold the Laureus Player Award.
Messi’s legends can be revealed on and on throughout his whole played matches which as a count is 867 with 703 goals. In a nutshell, Messi is the man who spent his entire professional career with Barcelona where he has won a club record of 34 trophies including 10 La Liga titles, 7 Copa Del Rey titles, and 4 UEFA Champions leagues. FIFA World Cup Golden Ball (2014), European Golden Shoe (6 times since 2009), FIFA Ballon d’Or(6 times since 2009), IFFHS Best player award(4 times) are just a few of his trophies.
Messi is currently married to Antonella Roccuzzo, his longtime girlfriend, and has three little kids and still day by day he is renewing the world soccer records. But as according to PFA the average age of retirement for a soccer player is 35 it can be expected this legend will say goodbye to the pitch in 2023 which will be a huge miss for cules.
