Environmental pollution is a very commonly discussed topic in education, in media, and even sometimes among the public. But the steps taken to reduce environmental pollution are not as common as the discussions. Finding reasons why the public cannot follow eco-friendly rules given by authorities is complicated. But as educated students and media units, our foremost responsibility is to force the public to follow those environmentally friendly rules as much as possible by giving the knowledge. So let us step onto another awareness-raising article.
The bag is something very closely related to all of our daily works. When children go to school, they carry bags. When people go to work, they carry bags. Simply when you set off our house, a bag will definitely hang on your hand. But, the issues haven’t arisen, with the school bags or the office bags. As we all know, grocery bags have become the main factor that increases environmental pollution. Often, grocery bags made up of polythenes are not eco-friendly due to its inability to degrade. And mostly, people tend to use polythene bags just once and throw them away, which increases the amount of polythene released to the environment.
As a weapon to combat this polythene enemy, paper bags have been introduced. Paper bags means simply bags made out of paper which is biodegradable and recyclable. Paper bags have been an excellent replacement for the polythene bags because they do our work while protecting Mother Nature.
The 12th of July every year is named as the World Paper Bag Day with the utmost aim of raising awareness among the public about these paper bags. They need to increase the people’s interest in paper bags and encourage them to use them in day to day life while ultimately say no to polythene.
There are several types of paper bags with different capacities. Let us pay our attention to some of those types.
🌀 Flat-bottomed paper bag:- This type has more room than the normal paper bag and, as the bottom is flat, it would be an added advantage to place it erectly due to its purpose.
🌀 Square-bottomed paper bag:- This type has pleated sides. The specialty here is that they can be folded, stored, and can be used again and again without any decline in the quality due to foldings.
🌀 Deubener Shopping bag:- This is another special type, which its name related to the name of the inventor. They are reinforced with cords, which can use as a handle. It could carry up to 75 pounds. This type is the most popular because many stores print their name and logo in these bags and use them as their standard bags.
🌀 Multiwall paper sacks:- This type is used to pack bulk materials like fertilizers, animal feed, sand, cement, etc.
Meanwhile, many other new types of paper bags with more options are being invented. Perhaps you, reading this article, may also be able to produce a new kind of paper bag in the future!

The first inventor of the paper bag is unknown. But noted down in history, some highlighted people have produced machines for the mass production of various types of paper bags.

🗞 Wolle and his brother together founded the Union Paper Bag Company.
🗞 In 1871, Margaret E. Knight invented the machine to produce flat-bottomed paper bags.
🗞 In 1883, Charles Stilwell invented the machine to produce square-bottomed paper bags with pleated sides.
🗞 In 1912, Walter Deubener used cord and added carrying handles to paper bags.
The above mentioned and many other non-mentioned personalities had rendered their effort for the victory of this paper bag revolution. May this day be a tribute to all of them, because they are the real friends of our Mother Nature.
Although throughout the article, it is mentioned that paper bags are exceptional and excellent products, you may still have problems regarding what are the real advantages of them. So, down there, I have pointed out some of the simple advantages.

For example, carrying freezing food in paper bags is difficult. However, technology will find solutions for that too shortly. We must follow the eco-friendly guidelines.
