The hero who brings the spirit to “The Hobbit”

Martin John Christopher Freeman is an English actor who is a brilliant, fantastic and talented film star who glorifies the film industry with these lines. He is a remarkable super hero who has been able to have a big fan base by doing his roles in an unforgettable way. This popular man wins our hearts as he accomplishes world famous notable roles through his characters.

This marvelous man is known for portraying Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit film trilogy, Tim Canterbury in the The Office (2001), Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama Sherlock (2010) and Lester Nygaard in the dark comedy-crime drama TV series Fargo (2014).

Martin Freeman  has gone through some dark past memories in his childhood. His birthplace is Aldershot, Hampshire, England. He is the youngest among five children of Philomena (née Norris) and naval officer Geoffrey Freeman. His parents got separated when he was a small child, and moreover his father died from a heart attack when Freeman was just 10 years old which was almost a too small age to bear such dark incidents of life. This is the way he expressed his childhood gloomy memories, 

“My mum was Labour-voting, but wanted us to know we were important. Basically, everyone’s equal, but you, my children, are a bit better.”

His school was Salesian School in Chertsey, Surrey. After that, he attended Brooklands College for media studies. He took interest in theatre at the age 15 but decided to pursue acting as a career when he was 17. He has attended the Central school of Speech and Drama.This brings a turning point to his career as he has appeared in at least 18 TV shows, 14 theatre productions, and several radio productions.

He has also appeared in film industry including the romantic comedy Love Actually (2003), the horror comedy Shaun of the Dead (2004), the sci-fi comedy The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005), the action comedy Hot Fuzz (2007), the semi-improvised comedy Nativity! (2009), the sci-fi comedy The World’s End (2013), and as Everett K. Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Captain America: Civil War (2016), Black Panther (2018) and the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).

As a fantastic celebrity he comes into our mind through his most notable roles such as Tim Canterbury in the mockumentary series The Office (2001–2003), Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama series Sherlock (2010–2017), Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy (2012–2014). He became more popular among his fans as he did his best to awaken our minds with his remarkable characters. It is clear that as an actor he has done his best and he has achieved the pinnacle in his occupation.

When we consider his personal life facts he is so open minded and he has shared these facts in the interviews. Presently Freeman resides in the Belsize Park area of London. He has previously lived in Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, with actress Amanda Abbington. She is a well-known actress in Great Britain and now they are a separated couple. They were together from 2000 to 2016, and have a son named Joe and a daughter named Grace. It is really an interesting fact that they appeared together in productions such as Sherlock, Swinging with the Finkels, The Debt, The Robinsons, and The All Together. On the 22nd of  December 2016, Freeman announced that he and Abbington had separated. But both mention in their interviews that they have stayed as good friends.

As a popular English actor, here are some of his awards and achievements in his career as a superb star.

  • The award for ‘Best Male Comedy Performance’ for his role in the British sitcom ‘Hardware’ from the ‘Rose d’Or’ award ceremony in 2004
  • Nominated for a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ under the ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie’ category for playing ‘Dr. Watson’ in ‘Sherlock.’

  • ‘MTV Best Hero Award’ and ‘Empire Award’ under the ‘Best Actor’ category for the film ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’

  • ‘Stellar Best Actor Award’ for the same film, ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.’
