She was renowned as a country music singer by the age of 16; numerous Grammy Award winner; singer-songwriter; owner of a lot of eminent songs of all time; Yes, it’s none other than the popular pop idol, Taylor Swift.
Taylor Alison Swift was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on 13th December, 1989, to Andrea Gardner and Scott Kingsley Swift. Her father earned his living as a stockbroker while her mother was a housewife who raised up Taylor and her younger brother, Austin Swift. An amazing fact of her family is that her grandmother was a professional opera singer and Taylor herself followed her grandmother’s musical footsteps later on.
When she was young, she attended Alvernia Montessori School and further she and her brother used to attend Bible classes owing to their parents being Presbyterian Church goers. When Taylor was only 9 months old, her mother placed her on a saddle and from then on, horse riding became her passionate hobby. She was even given a pony named Ginger as a gift. With this exciting new hobby, she even brought home wins from horse riding races.
Their family moved on to the family’s Christmas tree farm nearby Wyomissing where she joined the Youth Theatre Academy productions in which she had to travel to New York quite frequently for acting and vocal lessons. Her guitar playing started right after a computer mechanic taught her to play only three cords. Taylor instantly took an interest to country music when she was only twelve years old. Apparently she was inspired by Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.
She had the song writing talent in her starting from her young age. In school, she won a national poetry competition for her poem titled “Monster in my closet” and the first song she wrote by herself was “Lucky You”. Taylor climbed up the ladder of her career with her talent and also with the support of her parents. Her mother contacted Dan Dymtrow and as a result, the twelve year old Taylor was cast in Abercrombie & Fitch’s “Rising Star” campaign. In due course, she was interviewed by several mega record labels. Eventually, she signed up with RCA Records, so she had to fly from Nashville and Pennsylvania. But her father transferred to Nashville so he can easily assist his daughter’s budding career. Then, she was enlisted in “Aron Academy” and was home schooled.
Her musical career expanded as shperformed at events and worked with songwriters such as Brett Beavers, Mac McAnally and Liz Rose. In 2005, as she performed at the “Bluebird Cafe”, Scott Botchetta who was then a DreamWorks Records executive, was impressed by Taylor and immediately signed her up.
In 2006, Taylor released her first single, “Tim McGraw” and the song reached the Top 10 hit on the country charts. It was told that she wrote that song in a math class when she was recalling her senior year boy friend. The song then appeared on her self-titled debut album which was released in October of the same year, which sold more than 5 million copies. More and more hit songs followed; “Our Song” which was a No1 country music hit, “Teardrops on my guitar”, “Picture to Burn” and “Should’ve Said No”.
The awards for her dedication started off with her winning the Horizon award from the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award for Top New Female Vocalist in 2007. Taylor then released “Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection” that year itself.
After all those initial hits, she released the album “Fearless” in 2008, with her popular single “Love Story” and it topped the billboard charts at No.4, along with “You Belong with me” at No.2. The album was announced as the number one selling album of the year 2009 by “Billboard 200” and the music video was named “Best Female Music Video” on MTV.
Taylor was the youngest to win the Grammy Award for “Album of the Year” and received awards for “Best Country Album”, “Best Country Song” and “Best Female Country Vocal Performance”.
She debuted in her acting career as an actor in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, in which she played a rebellious teenager. Then debuted in the film industry in 2009 with the movie “Valentine’s Day”.
She even entered the Guinness Book of World Records with in 2010 with her album “Speak Now”, as the fastest selling digital album by any female artist.

In 2021, she won the “Album of the Year” at the Grammy Awards for her album “Forklore” and became the first woman in history to win that award three times.
The awards she has won so far includes 10 Grammy Awards, 23 Billboard Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 8 Academy of Country Music Awards, 19 American Music Awards, 1 Brit Award and 1 Emmy Award.
Unfortunately for her, her mother was diagnosed with cancer in August 2016 and as a result, she launched a campaign regarding the lethal disease.
Talking about her dating life, she has had several affairs with famous celebrities including Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, John Mayer, Jake Gyllenhall, Harry Style, Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston.
The presently 32 year artist keeps making history with her dedication and perseverance through her path of success. Her diligence so far has kept her going and gain numerous achievements in several junctions of her life.
