What is your hobby?

There is no doubt that you all have answered that simple question, “what are your hobbies?”. Probably, one of the favourite topics to talk about in childhood. We all have hobbies, different kinds of hobbies. Reading, watching movies, collecting stamps, cooking, listening to music, travelling are some of the most popular hobbies and there are new and creative hobbies on the modern list. However, with the tight schedules that we have in the modern world, if I ask the same question now, some will say who has time to do it? Being a busy person, some neglect their interests sometimes, but not all. When there is a daily to-do list already waiting for you, how can there be time for a hobby! You may be a student stuck in lectures throughout the day, or a businessman stuck in meetings even at or maybe even at home but doing household chores throughout the day.

Hobbies help us grow as a person. It takes you away from the usual routine and gives you a chance to get involved in something you are passionate about. As a unique person trying to find out a new hobby that matches your passion. Once you find out the best you will find the time somehow to get involved in as it becomes a part of your life.

Have you ever thought about why these hobbies are important in our lives? Hobbies are not just something to spend your leisure time, there are many benefits to having a hobby or hobbies. When it comes to benefits, yes! a hobby is a way to spend your leisure time but in a more useful manner. You will not waste your time just scrolling through the newsfeed, if you have a hobby you will scroll the newsfeed also in a meaningful way. Having a hobby will prevent you from bad habits that waste your time. Not only that, but hobbies will also help you to manage your time. When you are used to doing something as a hobby you will find a time for that, which encourages you to finish other works earlier or in other words, to be more efficient. Hobbies bring out your creativity. Sometimes you may not know that you are so creative or you are born with that talent. Trying out something new as a hobby will bring out your hidden talents also. Your creativity will surely add some plus points to your image at your career. Did you know that hobbies can increase your confidence? When you are good at something it makes you confident and improves the quality of life. This improves you to take on new challenges in your life. When the hobby becomes a skill you may end up by doing it even as a job also. Some hobbies such as reading, blogging give you good knowledge and keep you updated.

The most important benefit of having a hobby is it reduces your stress and builds up your patience. Doing something different that you enjoy outside of your work schedule is helpful to relieve stress and to relax. It is a break and improves your mental health also. If you are trying something new as a hobby you need time to learn that. There may be a trial and error period for you to become skilful at the end. Thus it makes you patient when you are dealing with such difficulties. Some hobbies directly give you physiological benefits. Hobbies such as yoga, hiking, cycling, camping help to increase your brain function, lower blood pressure, weight loss and overall increase your energy. This will be great for your health especially if you are just sitting in front of a screen at the office all day. Hobbies will improve both social and interpersonal skills also. Currently, there are various platforms such as groups and pages in social media to connect with the people who do the same kind of work or hobbies in different places. This will be a great chance to introduce you to new friends, share your knowledge, experience new things etc.

Whatever your hobby is, it gives you multiple benefits. So don’t be late to find out your passion or the hidden talent. Take some time and try something new. Make it a part of your life. As Dhruv Sahni has said once, “To beat the AGE, keep the hobbies ALIVE”.
